As the Government announced its plans to revolutionise the way people can trace their birth parents, Northcliffe Electronic Publishing's Adoption-net suddenly received a flood of tracing queries.
An interesting call from a man trying to trace his daughter gave Adoption-net staff their first clue that the site had appeared on television that morning.
Nicola Yeomans, the site's editorial assistant, said: "I'd heard the announcement on the radio on the way in to work, and got straight on to the Tera content management system to get a story uploaded on to the site first thing.
"Then we had a couple of tracing queries that came through by e-mail. About half an hour later a man called me and mentioned that he'd seen us on good morning television that morning, and wondered if we could give him some more information on tracing his daughter.
"I passed the query on to the editor, Matt Bailey, and decided to try to find out what TV programme the man was referring to."
After searching various websites that morning Nicola and Matt finally tracked down a video clip on the BBC's site bbc.co.uk.
Nicola said: "The report was about a man who had recently tracked down his son in Australia.
"Then it showed a clip of a computer and the Adoption-net banner scrolled across the screen. Then they zoomed out to show the website in full!"
