Kelly Brook and Billy Zane both visited the city for the world premiere of Kelly's new movie School for Seduction.
Shot on Tyneside, it tells the story of how the humdrum lives of a group of women are transformed by the arrival of a sultry Italian temptress who coaches them all in the art of luurv.
The paper's coverage of the couple's arrival and of the star-studded premiere left them stunned.
As they arrived at Newcastle Central Station on Monday lunchtime, showbiz reporter Gordon Barr was there to greet them.
No sooner had they stepped off the train than Gordon was asking them about the film, their time on Tyneside and hopes.
His exclusive chat with them made the day's main edition.
Kelly later told Gordon: "I can't believe how quickly you wrote the piece and how it looked in the paper.
"It looks great. We were really impressed. You guys don't hang around.
"That would never happen in Hollywood. You could give those guys a run for their money any day.
"The piece looked great. It was lovely."
All part of the service, according to editor Paul Robertson, who was delighted the paper made such an impact.
