Examiner's Malcolm says farewell after 20 years

Malcolm Robertshaw has said farewell to the Huddersfield Daily Examiner after 20 years at the paper.

The senior journalist had edited the Examiner's popular Drivetime and Property supplements as well as the Weekly News, before deciding to retire.

He said: "To me, working in newspapers isn't just a job. It's a way of life."

Malcolm joined the Examiner in 1984 as a sub-editor, taking on responsibility for the television pages, after previously working for the Halifax Courier group.

As part of his job he has also written for Driving Force, the Trinity Mirror Regionals pool of motoring journalists, and will continue in this group-wide role which sees his articles appearing in newspapers across the country.

He said: "I took on Drivetime 10 years ago and in that time I must have driven more than 1,000 new cars.

"I wish I had a pound for every time someone asked me what my favourite is - but I did particularly like the MG ZT-T sporty estate, which I tested recently."

Malcolm lives in Halifax with his wife Anita, and has two children and four grandchildren.
