A former local newspaper reporter has taken up a top job with ITV West.

Liz Hannam, (40), began her journalistic career as a district reporter at the North Devon Journal before moving to the Western Morning News and later the Chronicle and Echo in Northampton.

She joined ITV in 1989 and was responsible for journalists' training and the flagship six o'clock regional evening news.

She is currently deputy editor at ITV Central News South in Abingdon but will become head of news at ITV West.

Liz said: "I am very excited about my new role as head of news at ITV West and I am looking forward to working with the team to consolidate the news output and boost ratings."
