Community call as editor heads carnival committee

The Maidenhead Advertiser is getting out of the office to work with the local community with the appointment of editor Martin Trepte as chairman of the local carnival committee.

The annual event is one of the biggest in the local calendar and run by a committee of key players in the town.

Martin said: "The Advertiser has been a supporter and sponsor of the carnival since it started so I know organising it is a massive task.

"But we are part of an experienced and dedicated team who are all determined to make this the best carnival yet."

Next year's event is on June 11, and includes events, the parade itself, a riverside festival, evening proms concert and firework display.

His next job is to get as many people on board as possible to help ensure the event's success.

He said: "The carnival is an event for the whole community so we are calling on all groups in the town to get involved."
