Charity ball to be held in memory of former editor

A former editor of the Southport Visiter is set to be remembered at a memorial ball which is being held in her honour.

Sue Price, who was better known to many as Sue Kenyon, died three years ago after a brave battle against bowel cancer.

The 53-year-old, who edited the Maghull Times and the Southport Visiter, was also involved in local fundraising, and her family has now decided to organise a charity ball in her honour.

Sue's youngest daughter, Nicola, said: "It is important to remember my mum for all the good she did, and try and carry that on.

"She put so much into life and I know that people haven't forgotten her, she was too important for that, but I feel it's time for people to come together and remember her in the most positive and enjoyable way."

Sue was appointed editor of the Southport Visiter in 1993, but after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis she was forced to give up journalism.

In 1997 she set up an MS support group to offer support and friendship to other women with the condition. She was also appointed welfare officer for the Southport and Formby branch of the MS Society and was looking forward to her new role when she was diagnosed with cancer.

She was also actively involved with fundraising for Queenscourt Hospice and edited their newsletter, and so money raised from the ball will be donated to the MS Society and Queenscourt Hospice.

The Sue Price Memorial Ball will be held at Formby Hall Golf Club on Saturday, February 19.

Tickets are £30 and include a five-course dinner.

For more information or for tickets, contact Nicola Kenyon on 07881 800 100.
