Business daily gets a new lease of life

The Newcastle Journal is to launch a revamped version of its Northern Business Daily supplement on Monday.

Originally published in March 2001, the supplement now boasts a greater variety of columnists and a more concentrated focus on the 'after hours' aspect of business life.

The Business Daily, which is between eight and 24 pages in size, has adopted a modern image in a bid to cement its regional standing.

Further amendments include pages devoted to emerging industry topics in the region, such as tourism, conferences and corporate responsibility.

And to attract an improved readership, the revised supplement is being strongly supported by a campaign of direct mailings to executive and middle managers.

Journal editor Brian Aitken said: "Northern Business Daily is a core part of The Journal brand. We are already the clear market leader in our circulation area, but we do not want to rest on our laurels.

"Business executives don't have time to spare, they want the information they need to make deals fast and that is what we are giving them."

Market research shows The Journal reaches more business people in the North East than any other daily newspaper.
