Shake up at Scottish titles

New editors are to take charge at the Edinburgh Evening News and Scotland on Sunday as part of a shake-up at the top of three newspapers owned by Scotsman Publications.

Ian Stewart, editor of the Edinburgh Evening News for the past two years, has been appointed deputy editor at the Scotsman.

He began his new role yesterday, succeeding Will Peakin, who is understood to still be with the company, although no announcement has yet been made on his next move.

Taking over at the Evening News will be John McLellan, who is currently editor of sister title Scotland on Sunday.

The move will see John making a return to the paper he previously edited before joining the Sunday paper in 2002.

He had also previously been assistant editor at The Journal in Newcastle and sports editor at the Evening Mail in Barrow.

It has not yet been confirmed as to when John will take up his new post, and in the interim Evening News deputy editor Graham Huston will be acting editor.
