Advertiser faces decision over future base

The Evening Advertiser in Swindon is set to move offices or revamp its current home as it looks to the future in the year of its 150th anniversary.

The paper has been based in its Victoria Road since in began as the UK's first 'penny' title in 1854 but the historic building is in need of modernisation if it is to remain the Advertiser's home.

Another option, however, is for the paper to move elsewhere, so a planning application to convert the current offices into flats has been submitted to Swindon Council to assess how much the land is worth and which option would be best.

The Advertiser has said that if it does move, it will still keep an office open near Swindon town centre.
