New owners unveil revamped London title

Readers were enjoying a new-look City and Islington News this week, after a relaunch by its new owners.

The independent weekly newspaper was bought by Ivy Communications - which also publishes the Dockland News - earlier this year.

And after undergoing a makeover to bring it more closely in line with its new sister title, the City and Islington News unveiled its new look to readers.

The two free weeklies will now share a combined staff of 14, with managing director Richard Alvin assuming direct control until a managing editor is appointed.

Richard said: "We basically started with a blank sheet of paper for the City and Islington News as we didn't feel it reflected the marketplace.

"We have also made some editorial changes to the Docklands News and this has been well-received."

Earlier this year the Docklands News was forced to cease trading because of production problems, only a month after moving from publishing monthly to weekly.

It officially relaunched last month and both titles will now be distributed via bulk drops, with the Docklands title also delivered door-to-door.
