The Newspaper Society has held a meeting with the Sainsbury's News and Magazines division to discuss how the Society could help the supermarket chain increase its sales of regional and local newspapers.
The Society's Newspaper Sales Action Team is now hoping for further meetings with Sainsbury's following its initial work with rival Tesco.

The News & Star's Bounce Back campaign supporting Carlisle United FC's bid to gain promotion to the Football League has been boosted by one of the paper's delivery vehicles being emblazoned with a huge photograph of the team's manager Paul Simpson along with the club's emblem and campaign logo.
Readers are being asked to show their support for the team by waving to the driver or honking their horn.


News Shopper readers have been praised for helping to keep the town of Northfleet on the map after the Electoral Commission said it planned to reduce Gravesham's six county wards to five.
Councillor Jean Christie said letters from the paper's readers had helped convince the Commission to review its decision.


The South Wales Evening Post has launched a campaign to clean-up Swansea following the paper's Set The Agenda initiative which revealed that cleaner streets were the public's top priority.
The Post will be passing on complaints to the council and checking to see what is done about the problems.
