New face on regionals' parliamentary beat

Caroline Wheeler has been appointed the Northcliffe parliamentary correspondent.

She takes up her duties from Monday September 6, and will serve the daily titles in Humberside and Lincolnshire, as well as the South Wales Evening Post, succeeding Zoe Hughes who is to become political editor of The Journal, Newcastle.

Caroline, a politics graduate with a postgraduate journalism diploma from Cardiff, has spent four years with the Post & Mail group in Birmingham, most recently for the Sunday Mercury, where she is a news reporter and education correspondent.

Her work has won frequent recognition, earning commendation in four regional Newcomer and Young Reporter awards from 2002 to 2004, before leading to her selection as the Midlands Weekly News Reporter of the Year 2004.
