Margaret rides her Luck in Peru

Editor's secretary Margaret Luck has embarked on an epic journey to cross Peru on her bike for charity.

She travelled out at the end of last week to join 25 others on the ride from Lake Titicaca to Machu Picchu, in her bid to raise cash for the National Asthma Campaign.

It will take the group just six days, and they will cover 480km.

Margaret is the secretary to Anita Syvret at the Gloucestershire Echo and is no stranger to cycling challenges.

In 2000 she completed a journey of similar length across Jordan for the Douglas Bader Foundation for Amputees.

Margaret has been cycling in the Cotswolds to build up her strength and also been a regular the her local gym.

She said: "I know what to expect this time but it's going to be tougher in Peru. I'm looking forward to it but I'm slightly nervous.

"The highlight will be Machu Picchu. I've never been to South America before and doubt I'll get the chance again."
