Martyn Willis has been appointed managing director of Newsquest (Sussex).

He replaces Howard Scott, whose appointment as Newsquest's group newspaper sales director was announced last month.

Previously publisher of the News Shopper Series in North Kent/South London, Martyn's appointment took effect from April 6.

Titles published by Newsquest (Sussex) include The Argus, Leader Series and Gatwick and Horley Life.

Martyn, (49), began his career in newspapers in 1979 and has since held a number of senior sales and general management positions. He joined Newsquest as Group Sales Manager for the South London Guardian Group in 1997 and was appointed publisher of the News Shopper Series in 2001.
