Former Aberdeen photographer Geddes Wood has died, aged 77.
He had recently been diagnosed with cancer, and died unexpectedly of an aneurysm at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The well-known lensman worked at the Press and Journal before setting up his own freelance agency, Scotpix in the 1950s.
His pictures were used widely in the regional and national press, and his scoops included photographing north-east serial killer Dennis Nilsen in Army uniform, brandishing a meat cleaver.
Geddes was also an active member of the National Union of Journalists, and was welfare officer of the Grampian branch for a time.
Former colleague Alan Will said: "He was a photographer of some distinction and well-liked by everyone."
He leaves a widow, Phyllis, two daughters and four grandchildren.
