Matt Holmes, (32), has been promoted as an assistant editor at The Citizen, Gloucester.
He was previously head of content and rejoined the paper as news editor after a spell at the Western Daily Press, where he covered the Forest of Dean, Herefordshire and South Wales, and began his newsdesk career as night news editor. He started off in journalism at the Crewe Chronicle and had his first spell at the Citizen as crime reporter before spending time in public relations before his move to Bristol.

The group editor of Archant's Post group found himself in the news when the Barking and Dagenham Post published a surprise half page tribute to celebrate his 40 years with the company.
Dave Russell joined the paper as a junior reporter in March 1964 and his wife Julie - who retired as news editor last year after 30 years - mailed in the photos for the tribute without Dave knowing!

Editor Toby Granville has set his staff a new challenge - he's asking them to walk a 20-mile stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal tow path between Bath and Devizes for charity.
And now around 20 Wiltshire Times workers have signed up for the CLIC Canal Challenge on May 30. Half of the money they raise will go the leukaemia charity CLIC and the rest to the Wiltshire Times 150 Fund to help mark the newspaper's 150th birthday and raise money for a good cause.
