Welwyn and Hatfield Times news editor Alex Millson was quick to volunteer for a university rag week sponsored climb.

Terry scales the heights

He volunteered his editor, Terry Mitchinson.

So fearless Terry joined university staff and other volunteer fundraisers as they scaled the 40ft indoor wall in aid of rag week charities for the University of Hertfordshire.

Afterwards, Terry, who reached the peak in 58 seconds, said: "The climb was extremely tough for a novice like myself, but it was a fun way to raise money for charity and support Rag Week."

Despite his hard work, Terry's team was beaten by Hatfield Town Council's trio, with a particularly fit council chairman making the climb in 41 seconds.

All smiles at base camp

More than £1,000 was raised in all.
