Police apologise for wrong photo error

A police force has apologised after it released a picture of the wrong man to the media.

The photo, of a man from Cranwell in Lincolnshire, was released to the press and appeared in the Nottingham Evening Post.

It was published in connection with the conviction of Nottingham man William Danny Robinson, (26), of Radford, for offences including burglary and dangerous driving.

Nottinghamshire police inadvertently issued a picture of a man who had no connection with the incident which had been reported in the paper a fortnight earlier, and who had no criminal convictions.

The force said in a statement that it accepted the photograph was issued in error - and offered a full and unreserved apology to the man who was wrongly pictured and to his family.
