Michael Howard is to address members of the regional press at a prestigious lunch event in July.
The Leader of the Opposition will speak about issues relating to the regional press at the Newspaper Conference Annual Lunch in July.
Members of the Newspaper Conference, their editors, chief executives and contacts will all be there.
The Newspaper Conference comprises political and London editors and correspondents of regional newspapers in membership of the Newspaper Society. It revolves around a series of lunch meetings, at which members have the opportunity to put questions of regional interest to senior politicians.
Its annual lunch is the main event of the year, and is open to all members of the Newspaper Society.
Western Mail political editor Kirsty Buchanan, chairwoman of the Newspaper Conference, said: "I am delighted that Michael Howard has agreed to attend this year's Newspaper Conference Annual Lunch.
"Regional newspapers are a vital element in local life across the country and politicians recognise how important these newspapers are to their constituencies."
Regional newspaper staff who wish to attend the lunch on July 8 at the Lanesborough Hotel in central London can visit the Newspaper Conference page to find out more, or contact contact Chantal How at the Newspaper Society on 020 7693 0453.
