Liverpool Echo journalist Jane Woodhead is getting her running shoes on for charity after winning a place in this year's London Marathon.
Feature writer Jane, (32), will take part in the 26.2 mile race on Sunday, April 18, to raise money for the Echo's Sunrise Fund.
Running the marathon will be a dream come true for Jane - it will be her first, after previously running in 5km, 10km and half marathon races.
She will be joined by her personal trainer Andy Gilbert, from Thornton Hall country health club in Wirral, and together they are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the Echo's Sunrise Fund, which is supporting Barnardo's this year, together with Leukaemia Research.
Jane said: "I lost my father to leukaemia so this is obviously a charity which is close to my heart.
"I have always dreamed of taking part in the London Marathon but just never believed I would get the opportunity.
"I'm really excited and can't wait. I think it will be very emotional and will be an unbelieveable feeling to cross the finish line."
To prepare for the event Jane and Andy are following a tough training schedule which includes running, skipping and lots of time at the gym.
Jane said: "Andy is a real motivator and encourages everyone to keep going and keep running.
"One of his favourite sayings is: 'Just remember it is all in the mind. Relax, enjoy it and think of good things.' And I have to say this really works."
