Post staff clean up their act

Staff at the Reading Evening Post are leading by example after they took to the streets to clear up their doorstep as part of a new clean-up campaign in the town.

Reading Borough Council has unveiled its Your Reading strategy, aimed at ridding the town of rubbish, and in anticipation of the new scheme eager staff at the Evening Post's Tessa Road headquarters took time out to fill bags full of rubbish.

Evening Post managing director Jo Newell said: "This is an excellent campaign to clean up Reading.

"We thought 'where better to start than outside our own front door?' and we hope other businesses will do the same.

"It would only take a little bit of effort from everyone to make Reading a cleaner place and a nicer one for us all to live in."

The new scheme has been launched by the council in response to an anti-social behaviour survey, which showed litter was one of the top concerns of people in Reading.
