Mike is named deputy editor

Mike Pennock has been appointed deputy editor of the Ipswich Evening Star.

He moves from his previous role as deputy editor (production) at the Archant-owned title and will oversee the paper's content-gathering operation, boosting the local news reporting across each part of the circulation area.

His role is being expanded to become the regular point of contact for readers, and he will also tackle a number of community-based projects.

Mike began his career in Bedfordshire, and worked on papers in Bedford, Luton, Reading and in Sydney, Australia.

He has worked for the Evening Star for 11 years.
