Mourners pack chapel for former editor's funeral

Around 250 mourners packed a crematorium chapel for the funeral of former Cannock newspaper editor Barry Gough.

Many had travelled long distances to Stafford to pay tribute and support his grieving family after Barry, (54), was found dead on Cannock Chase on New Year's Eve.

Barry climbed the journalistic ladder from reporter to editor of the Cannock Advertiser and Walsall Observer.

He later worked with the Birmingham Post and Mail before turning to public relations, with the Tarmac group and then producing industrial magazines from his home in Rugeley Road, Hazel Slade.

Among the mourners was former Cannock reporter Ian Gretton. They were old school friends and Barry was best man at his wedding. Ian, who left Cannock many years ago, now runs his own PR business in Brighton.
