A newspaper's charity arm has handed over more than £25,000 to good causes in its circulation area.
The cash has come from the Gannett Foundation, part of the Newsquest group which owns the Independent and Guardian series of newspapers in London.
Connaught Stroke Club has bought a minibus with the £15,000 it was given before Christmas;The Limes community and children's centre has been awarded £4,500 to help it provide play and reacreational equipment for disabled and able-bodied childen;Waltham Forest Dyslexia Association, which supports children with dyslexia, and their families, has been handed £4,700;The Harlow and District branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society has received £2,000.The Gannett Foundation, run by Newsquest's American parent company regularly provides funding to support local organisations in the areas where Newsquest operates.
It supports projects which take a creative approach to issues such as education, neighbourhood improvements, economic development, youth development and helping disadvantaged people.
