Changes to a European directive to protect and encourage legitimate financial journalism could be implemented next year after being ratified by the European Parliament.
The Market Abuse Directive, to eliminate insider dealing and market manipulation, means journalists may have to disclose their financial interests.


The National Union of Journalists says it is in "constructive" talks with Newsquest over plans to move the running of several magazine titles from Glasgow to London.
Some 16 jobs may be affected by the move, which involves titles including Scottish Farmer, Boxing News and International Piano.
