The Newspaper Press Fund will receive more than £3,000 as a result of the 'This Is Bristol Spectacular' starring The Foundations and Berni Flint.
An equal amount will also go to the Lord Mayor of Bristol's Christmas Appeal for Children as a result of the third show organised by Bristol Evening Post deputy editor, Stan Szecowka. The annual charity event has now raised more than £16,000 for good causes.

Despite having just seven issues under its belt, one of Scotland's newest trade titles - Scottish Local Retailer - has been named Business Magazine of the Year in the inaugural PPA Scotland awards, the Scottish publishing industry Oscars.
Scottish Local Retailer is published by Glasgow-based contract publishing firm 55 North on behalf of William Reed Publishing.

There was a record number of entries for an increased number of categories in the Evening Press Business Awards 2003, which climaxed in a glittering ceremony at the brand new £20m Ebor Stand at York Racecourse.
Evening Press editor Kevin Booth welcomed the guests, including keynote speaker Christopher Garnett, chief executive of York-based GNER. Kevin used the ceremony as a stage to announce to the region's businesses that from December 1 the Evening Press is to produce a daily, instead of weekly, business page.

Former Derby Telegraph columnist Jim Brennan has revealed he plans to retire at 90.
He is already 82, and since his column was dropped by the Telegraph, he has been running a subscription-only e-mail newsletter about his home city, at £1 a time.
