New editor set to take over at the Telegraph

Rebecca Stephens is to become the new editor of the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

Currently deputy editor of the Basildon/Southend Evening Echo, Rebecca (pictured) will join the Evening Telegraph on February 2.

She will also be responsible for the weekly Peterborough Citizen and the website peterboroughnow.co.uk.

She takes over from Kevin Booth, who was appointed editor of the York Evening Press earlier this year.

Rebecca, (31), said: "I'm delighted. It's really good news and I'm looking forward to the challenges that the new role will bring.

"Kevin has left a good solid product and I can't wait to get up there and meet the team."

Rebecca has worked at the Evening Echo for the past year and has also previously worked in a number of senior editorial roles at The Argus in Brighton and the Gloucestershire Echo.

She began her career at the South Wales Evening Post in her home town of Swansea.
