Paper's purchase adds colour to its pages

A weekly paper has been relaunched - in colour - after being bought up by Tindle Newspapers.

Welsh language paper Y Dydd, based in Dolgellau, unveiled its new look to local dignitaries, contributors and advertisers.

Cambrian News general manager Lis Owen Jones, who signed the purchase agreement at the function, said Y Dydd would not be a mini Cambrian News.

She said the aim was for Y Dydd to retain its independence as a local weekly newspaper for Dolgellau and the surrounding district as it has since 1868.

The decision to sell Y Dydd to the Cambrian News, a company owned by Tindle Newspapers, was taken by the directors after two staff members reached retirement.

Proprietor Sir Ray Tindle said he was delighted with the first two editions - and confirmed its future was safe under his company's ownership.
