Scottish title gets its first MD

Pauline McCart has become the first managing director of the Wee County News.

She has previously held senior positions at the Daily Record, Business a.m. and Galloway Gazette, and has been with Forth Independent Newspapers, which owns the County News, since January.

In her new role Pauline will work to build on the Wee County News' circulation and advertising revenues.

She will also play a key role in the company's plans for expansion through both acquisition and launch activity.

FIN chairman Ernest Petrie said: "Pauline has both the skill and the vision to continue to grow the Wee County News' circulation and advertising revenues and develop new opportunities for the title."

The Alloa-based Wee County News was the subject of a management buyout from Johnston Press last year.

It was set up as a paid-for title by a group of local businessmen in 1995 before being bought up by Regional Independent Media in 2000 and later Johnston Press.
