The Royal Mail is planning to withdraw its newspaper registration service, which dates back to the mid-1800s and allows publishers to send postal subscriptions by first-class delivery at a second-class rate.
Royal Mail has confirmed that the current scheme will not be withdrawn without full and adequate consultation with the industry, and the Newspaper Society is assessing the likely impact.
