Scottish titles get a new name and a new look

The Ayrshire Leader Series has been given a new look and a new name.

The free weekly series of titles, which is owned by Archant Central Scotland, has been rebranded as The Ayrshire Extra.

It joins the publisher's existing Extra branded titles in Glasgow and Lanarkshire and means the Extra series will now reach more than 250,000 homes a week.

As part of the move the Ayrshire titles will take on The Extra's fonts and style but will remain an individual paper with its own content.

  • Editor Scott Barr with the first new-look papers
  • Ayrshire Extra editor Scott Barr said: "As the leading free newspaper in Ayrshire, it was the ideal opportunity to modernise the paper, strengthen the brand identity and create a series of newspapers in the West of Scotland that reaches over 250,000 homes and continues to grow.

"Despite the changes in look and design, our commitment to our readers won't change and our content will remain the same winning blend of local news, local views and local features.

"We are committed to moving forward and keeping the profile of Archant as one of the top companies in Scotland.

"It is an exciting challenge for myself and my team and one which I'm sure will have a welcoming response from our readers - old and new."
