Office move for Gazette Newspapers

Westmorland Gazette Newspapers marked a new phase in its 185-year history when it moved into new premises in the heart of Kendal.

Around 80 staff have transferred to the brand-new four-storey home at 1, Wainwright's Yard, built as part of a major scheme to redevelop the town centre.

The Gazette's former home will be demolished to make way for the rest of the development, including a new supermarket, 11 new shop units and 14 apartments.

Gazette editor/publisher Mike Glover said: "I'm delighted that Westmorland Gazette Newspapers' base in the town has been secured for the foreseeable future and it helps to open up an important regeneration site which will benefit the town."

And Westmorland Gazette readers who put forward the name of the famous walks author Alfred Wainwright as a suggestion for the Gazette's new address are to receive their prizes.
