Sweet promotion for Cheltenham journalist

Marianne Sweet has been appointed deputy editor of the Gloucestershire Echo.

She takes over the position vacated by David Hardy, the new editor of the Carmarthen Journal.

Marianne is promoted from being content editor of the Gloucestershire Echo.

She was brought up in Canada and began her British journalism career in 1984 when she joined the Bath Chronicle as a reporter.

She then went to the Evening Express in Aberdeen and joined the Gloucestershire Echo in 1995 as chief sub.
