New look for Lincs weeklies will strengthen branding

Lincolnshire Newspapers this week unveiled a new look for all its paid-for titles.

New mastheads have been introduced across the portfolio - part of Johnston Press - to strengthen each title's brand identity.

The new-look papers also share a tightly-knit family identity which will have strong commercial benefits.

The changes are part of a two-year 'evolutionary' redesign by managing editor Tim Robinson (left) in which the headline fonts - and now the mastheads - have been changed to the Interstate typeface.

  • The titles to change are the Louth Leader, Mablethorpe Leader, Horncastle News, Market Rasen Mail, Skegness Standard, Spilsby Standard, Alford Standard, Sleaford Standard, Boston Standard, which together have a combined circulation of 55,302.

Managing director Richard Parkinson (pictured) said: "Our new look is part of the exciting brand developments which have been taking place at Lincolnshire Newspapers.

"We are making our titles appear cleaner, more legible and more up-to-date.

"What is already excellent content will be given a better chance to really shine out and our papers will have a much more commanding, confident presence on the news stands."

The launch has been accompanied by reader competitons to win a widescreen TV, DVD player, VCR and furniture, presentations to key clients and other promotions.

A four-page wraparound in the four-edition free Citizen publicised the rebranding in the week before the papers hit the newsstands.
