'Legends' team up again

Two legends of Welsh journalism met up for a special celebration to mark their 80-plus years of loyal service.

Western Telegraph deputy editor Ted Goddard and Tivyside Advertiser reporter Barry Walshe were the toast of colleagues at a special lunch.

Ted and Barry worked together for many years as reporters on the Western Telegraph, with Ted later moving across to the subs desk.

Barry was then appointed district reporter for the north of the county and later still moved across to the Western Telegraph's sister paper the Tivyside Advertiser.

The pair have both shared an office with their respective spouses for many years.

Ted, who lives in Haverfordwest, is married to Western Telegraph News editor Doris Goddard - they actually met while working together as junior reporters.

Barry's wife Elaine was for many years a member of the Western Telegraph's advertising team, manning the paper's Cardigan district office where she and Barry both worked.
