Working from a different pitch

The Evening Chronicle's latest advertisements in Newcastle United's match programmes are becoming a talking point among the fans.

Shot at the famous St James' Park, the adverts, which will appear in all the home-game programmes this season, feature Smiley, one of the Evening Chronicle's longest-serving newspaper vendors.

Smiley, whose usual vending pitch is next to the famous landmark, Grey's Monument in Grainger Street, is well-known in the city and has been selling papers there for many years.
