Cheeky boy gets to grips with top pop duo

Basingstoke Gazette reporter Paul Stamp got to grips with top pop act the Cheeky Girls when the duo appeared at an open-air concert in the town.

Paul, who was covering the event for the paper, managed to get backstage and chat with the two sisters, Monica and Gabriela.

And as the sweltering temperatures teetered on the edge of setting new records, the pair told Paul how they were planning to hang out in the area and catch a few rays later on.

Monica said: "The weather is beautiful - it couldn't be better. We will hang around here until the show finishes and afterwards go somewhere around here to enjoy the weather."

The girls were appearing before an 8,000-strong crowd at Jammin' in the Park, where they performed their as-yet unreleased track Salsa in the Disco.
