The Western Mail and South Wales Echo were today expecting a royal visit.
The Prince of Wales was due in Cardiff today to officially open the papers' new printing press at the newly-built press hall in Pacific Park, Cardiff Bay.
The £18m full-colour press was instrumental in the relaunch of both papers earlier this year and is capable of running out 70,000 copies per hour.
After opening the printing press, Prince Charles was due to stop off at the Museum of Welsh Life in St Fagan's to see reconstruction work on St Teilo's Church, and officially open a new Italian garden there.
He was then due to travel to Treherbert, Rhondda, to meet young people and volunteers at the Valley Kids initiative at the Penyreglyn community project on the Mount Libanus Estate.
