Charities get £2,000 boost from news staff's fundraising

Evening Gazette staff provided a £2,000 boost to each of six Teeside charities, which provide much needed help and support in the area.

The Gazette Media Company's Charity awards 2003, held at Gazette Buildings, Middlesbrough provided the venue for the presentation of the cheques to the respective representatives of the six charities.

GMC managing director Alastair MacColl presented the cheques. He said that staff largely raised the money themselves on their own initiatives.

The charities to benefit range from children's hospitals and family projects to those which take pensioners on a holiday they might not otherwise get. Representatives of the various charities expressed their gratitude to staff at the Gazette for their findraising work.
