For a two-hour slot every Friday, the editor of the Ayrshire Leader, along with two of his reporters, is telling the public about their news and views on Ayr Community and Christian Radio.
Editor Scott Blair and reporters John Dewar and Raina Wilson are bringing Ayrshire's free press to the people of Ayr having been spotted by station supervisor, and fellow broadcaster, Andy Bennie when the trio came to the station to launch The Leader's ICU bed appeal.

The Newspaper Society has appointed Russell Collier as its new marketing director. Most of Russell's working career has been spent in Australia where he was best known for running the Newspaper Advertising Bureau until relocating permanently in London where he has spent the past two years mixing consulting with publishing and research positions.

One-day courses in Journalism and photography are going to be available for aspiring journalists at Leicester Adult Education College this summer.
Courses including Taking Pictures for Publication and Writing a Topical Article for Publication will take place in July and August with introductory sessions for full time courses starting in September.

Journalist Lynda Clark has this month launched a new magazine called 'Space' with photographer Ken Sparkes.
The 96-page, glossy, bi-monthly is filled with contemporary ideas for the young professional's home and includes interviews with hairdresser Trevor Sorbie and Chef Jamie Oliver. The magazine, which took only four months to create, is now on sale nationally in 350 shops.

A schoolboy took a turn as photographer for Glasgow newspaper, The Extra, after a teenager fell from a rope swing in a near by park.
An ambulance helicopter rescued the boy, and Mark Whiteside, of Giffnock, was on hand with his camera to capture the event. He gave The Extra exclusive rights to his pictures and was rewarded when they appeared on the front page.

Aspiring journalists were commended at The Journal and Northern Electric School Newspaper awards where the well-written reports and eye-catching features impressed the panel of judges.
Young Journalist of the Year was jointly won by Ellie Wilkinson, (16), and Emma Dodd, (17). Their prize is a day as editor of The Journal.
