Two former colleagues from the Blackpool Gazette are now running the public relations operation at Wyre Borough Council.

Val Cowan, who worked at the Gazette from 1995 to 1997, has just been appointed public relations officer for the council.

She was previously public relations manager for Edge Hill College of Higher Education.

Public relations assistant David Pearce joined the council in November last year after 42 years as a local journalist. Most recently he was the Gazette's district editor in Wyre and editor of the Fleetwood Weekly News.

Wyre Borough Council is based in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, and covers the busy towns of Poulton, Fleetwood, Garstang and Thornton Cleveleys as well as a large rural area.
