Action girl lands sports editor job

Clare Daniels has been appointed sports editor at Mid Somerset Newspapers.

She is a popular local sporting figure who is excited at the prospect of taking up her new position.

Clare is a genuine sporting all-rounder, was a member of Tor Women's rugby team and her partner Paul Lockyer remains the cornerstone of Tor 1st XV's front row.

At 29 years of age, Clare is a qualified county rugby referee and a regular member of Harlequins' rounders team who play in the Somervale Ladies' Rounders League.

Originally from Shepton Mallet and now living in Street, Clare had first hoped to work with horses but her dreams were dashed when she discovered that she was allergic to her equine friends.

Looking forward to her new job she said: "I'm thrilled, it's a real challenge and I hope I can continue the good work of my predecessors."

She will take over the position from Mark Baggelaar at the end of this month.
