Jumbo tabloid gets ready for launch

A new all-colour tabloid weekly paper is being launched by Archant Norfolk.

Samples of The Jumbo, the only free ads paper to concentrate just on Norfolk, are set to be distributed to almost a quarter of a million newspaper readers in the area.

The May 21 edition will be given away with every newspaper that Archant Norfolk publishes including the Eastern Daily Press, Norwich Evening News, Great Yarmouth Mercury and Lowestoft Journal, and will be the company's biggest ever single print run.

The first paid-for edition will hit the streets on May 28, priced £1.20.

Stephan Phillips, advertising director of Archant Norfolk, said: "The free ad market is a large and mature part of the UK publishing scene, and our extensive consumer research has highlighted the fact that people would much prefer to be able to buy and sell things locally.

"Our plans for the Jumbo have been developed around people's needs such as easy to read type and the ability to advertise for more than one week without penalty.

"Most of us have stuff which is cluttering our homes, which we don't need but may well be useful to someone else."
