Newspaper staff go on the run

An editorial team from Gazette Newspapers in Basingstoke have gone on the run - but all for a good cause.

The team were among entrants who took part in this year's Run 4 Fun event to raise funds for research into cancers which affect men.

Gazette Newspapers has been one of the key supporters of the event for the past two years.

This year the event attracted almost 750 entrants, and although it wasn't really a race, sports reporter Graeme Hamlett proved thequickest pair of heels in the Gazette team, finishing in under 20 minutes.

The other entrants from the paper were editor Mark Jones, health reporter Hugh Cadman, education reporter Paul Hobson, and reporters Richard Garfield and Paul Stamp.

Mark said: "Those who took part from the newspaper were delighted to support this important event, although there were a few tired limbs in the office the next day."

Each of the runners who took part in the event - which will hopefully raise more than £30,000 for Cancer Research UK - received a commemorative medal.
