New PCC chairman to speak at Society meeting

The Press Complaints Commission's new chairman is to make his first official speech in the role at the Newspaper Society's Annual General Meeting next week.

Sir Christopher Meyer will speak to regional newspaper publishers about his commitment to press self-regulation during the meeting at The Savoy in London on May 6.

He will also highlight some of his initial ideas for building on the success of the self-regulatory system, including examining the Commission's procedures and membership, and talk about adjudications and the editors' code.

Sir Christopher took up his appointment as chairman of the PCC on March 31.
