Journalists' strike action continues

Strikes in protest at management pay offers were taking place at centres in Bradford and Bolton today.

The Newsquest centres, which between them produce 12 newspapers, were hit by action from the National Union of Journalists.

Chapel meetings at both centres yesterday reaffirmed the decision to take industrial action.

In Bradford, strike action is due to take place both today and tomorrow, while in Bolton, the chapel reaffirmed the decision to continue with the strike that began on April 23 pending a meeting with management tomorrow.

Talks are also ongoing between management and the NUJ general secretary Jeremy Dear.

The company says newspapers are being produced as normal at both centres.
