Editor-in-chief recovering from heart attack

Alastair Machray, the editor-in-chief of Trinity Mirror's North Wales titles, is recovering in hospital after suffering a heart attack.

The 41-year-old, promoted to the position in October after leaving the editorship of the Liverpool Daily Post, fell ill last Friday.

His position is temporarily being filled by Mark Brittain, who is senior assistant editor of the Welsh newspapers.

He said: "Alastair is a young man and we all hope very much that he will be coming back to work within a couple of months.

"We have all been to see him and he is cheerful and looking forward to returning to his job."

Alastair was driving when he became uncomfortable and short of breath. Tests in hospital later showed he had suffered a heart attack.
