BBC veteran to speak at Society conference

Kate Adie is to speak at the Newspaper Society's Sales and Promotions conference in Birmingham later this month.

The BBC's chief news correspondent will be a key speaker at the event at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on March 24, which is aimed at editors as well as circulation managers and includes practical sessions on how promote their own trusted brands.

Steve Miles, circulation director of Northamptonshire Newspapers will chair the conference, and other speakers will include Chris Bransford, group senior marketing executive of Northcliffe Newspapers Group, and Melanie Howard, founding member of The Future Foundation, who will provide a glimpse into the future of local media.

Following the conference, the winners of the Newspaper Society's Sales and Promotions Awards, which include prizes for the Regional Newspaper of the Year and Journalist of the Year, will be announced and presented at a gala dinner and awards ceremony.
