A reader surgery has attracted a stream of people with constructive opinions about their local paper, the Post & Times.
The weekly paid-for series for Leek, Cheadle and Uttoxeter, held an informal surgery called Down Your Way where readers were invited to come and tell newspaper staff what they thought of the paper.
And the paper's new editor Doug Pickford said the event had been a positive and worthwhile exercise.
He said: "We asked local people what they thought of their local paper and received some extremely positive and constructive comments.
"I am extremely grateful that people take the trouble to attend. It is at functions like this that readers can tell us what they think, face to face, and I am also delighted that most of the chats I have had do emphasise that people care about their own weekly local newspaper.
"These surgeries are also an opportunity for people to come along and tell us about news stories and local events they would want us to cover."
The series was acquired by Staffordshire Sentinel Newspapers Ltd, whose parent company is Northcliffe Newspapers, in June last year.Do you have a story about the regional press? Ring 0116 227 3122/3121, or
