Staff changes in Somerset

There are changes afoot at the Somerset Standard and Somerset Guardian as the papers welcomes a new member of staff, while preparing to say farewell to another.

Photographer Becky Skilton has joined the titles, having previously worked for the Mid Devon Advertiser.

The 26-year-old from Plymouth has already been out taking pictures for the paper.

She said: "I've met lots of nice friendly people and am really looking forward to seeing much more of the area."

Meanwhile over on the sports desk, Kerry Miller is preparing to leave for a new job in Wales.

After four-and-a-half years as sports editor he has accepted a new job as deputy sports editor at the South Wales Argus, based in Newport.

But he is still planning to be a part of the Somerset sporting scene wherever possible.

He said: "Having spent the best part of five years involved in sport in and around North Somerset I will not find it easy to walk away.

"I shall still be based in Bristol for part of the week and so I will still be at midweek matches and some on Saturdays when not working."
